Description: Oil on canvas painting by Pierre Sony. Sony is known for his warm and inviting style when compared to his Haitian, contemporaries. Typical to Sony's subjects and painting content, here he depicts both men and women at worship during a celebration. Three men to the left play bongo drums and are wearing hats and colorful shirts. Women in white dresses and hair scarves flank both sides of a table centered in the middle of the painting. The table is covered with food, drink and cakes. The women on both sides of the table are singing. The women to the right front are kneeling down while singing. Everyone in the painting looks contented and warm, giving thanks and praise to God, the Almighty. art.
