Description
Southeast Asia, Burma (modern Myanmar), early 20th century CE. An antique knife with a highly polished wood handle of attractive caramel hues. The curved steel blade is very sharp and retains a sharp point. Dha is a Burmese term that literally means blade used by collectors to describe both swords and knifes of various lengths from many Southeast Asian cultures. The form of this particular example may indicate that it is a prayer knife (Dha-hyyaung), a name that refers to the practice of holding it while reciting prayers. Size: 10" L x 1-1/4" W (25.4 cm x 3.2 cm).
