[President Woodrow Wilson] 2 Commissions (1 signed by Woodrow Wilson). 19 1/4 x 15 ½ in. ++ Commission issued to Forrest M. Harrison for his appointment as Assistant Surgeon in the Medial Reserve Corps of the navy [sic], with the rank of Leiutenant, junior grade” (blank filled in in secretarial hand), effective Aug. 1915, but dated Jan. 25, 1916. Signed by Woodrow Wilson and by Secretary of the Navy Josephus Daniels. Vellum, engraved vignette above and below text and blue seal below text. Some wrinkling and color change to vellum. Tape bits to edges to sheet. Wilson's signature faded. ++ Commission issued to Harrison for his appointment as "Medical Inspector in the Navy with the rank of Commander,” from 23rd day of June 23, 1938. Dated Feb. 3, 1939. Signed by Secretary of the Navy Claude Swanson. Similar format as the first commission, but not signed by the President (then Franklin Roosevelt). 1939 commission mounted to backing, image side very good.
