OKLAHOMA LAND RUSH CLAIM SIGN
A rare relic from the great "Oklahoma Land Rush" of 1889, a partly-printed claim sign reading: "THIS CLAIM TAKEN BY" with the balance painted with the claim owner's name: "C. W. DALYRYMPLE". Right side tattered, toned, and torn in places and one would expect after extended exposure to the elements. Mounted. From a large collection of Oklahoma Land Rush documents and relics purchased by our long-time consignor. The Oklahoma Land Rush of 1889 was the first land rush into the Unassigned Lands. The area that was opened to settlement included all or part of the present-day Canadian, Cleveland, Kingfisher, Logan, Oklahoma, and Payne counties of the state. The land run started at high noon on April 22, 1889, with an estimated 50,000 people lined up for their piece of the available two million acres.
