A Lanvin couture gold lamé evening ensemble, Summer, 1929, the dress labelled and numbered 21058 and dated to the reverse 'Eté, 1929', with lace pocket, the sleeves with deep curves above the cuffs, edged in gold braid; the pink wool gilet with narrow yellow and ivory label to the neck, with silver lamé pocket, top stitched borders and scarf panels, bust approx 97-107cm, 38-42in (2) The Lanvin archive possesses a sketch of a very similar ensemble made for the French actress Jane Renouardt in 1929.

• Dress - fabric is lustrous and good. Gold lamé panels have been inserted at the underarms - upper bodice area to widen and also over the rear yoke and shoulder. Pink chiffon protectors added at underarms. New yoke, similarly lined. Small repair to lame at right underarm. Hem has been raised I think approx. 6cm. Tarnishing and slight wear to hem return – not visible on exterior. Lovey sleeves and lace is generally good, couple of small breaks in lace at shoulders. Tarnishing to lamé at shoulders. • Gilet - coral pink silk crepe de chine lining has splits near the collar. The silver lamé collar is slightly soiled and shows signs of heavy use. Silver lamé has wear and splits along the collar fold. Front right panel has 18cm repaired split in lining. 2 small nicks in centre back lining and 2 pinhead holes in corresponding place on the exterior. The exterior is generally clean, fresh and good.
