A Balenciaga couture cloth of gold cocktail suit, probably Spring-Summer 1962, Paris labelled and numbered 83293, the lustrous fabric woven with stylised honeysuckle repeats, the sleeveless dress with slightly raised waistline punctuated with a self-bow, matching short, loose jacket lined in ivory taffeta, dress bust 92cm, 36in, waist 71cm, 28in (2)

The dress with darned repairs at left waist closure, replaced zip, darned repairs at rear left waistline near closure, and 7cm repaired horizontal split at left and right bodice sides. Bodice has been taken in at side seams but let out over front bodice darts. Bad stains to lining from glued repairs to left and right bodice sides, corresponding with the darned repairs on the outside of the dress. Organza lining is torn. The broad boned grosgrain internal waistband is attached only on one side. The jacket is generally good condition with slight stains to lining.
