Description
7th-8th century AD. A mixed group of belt fittings comprising: four D-shaped plaques with foliage ornament, studs to the reverse; two similar, pierced; a domed mount with guilloche, dentilled border; a domed mount with four palmette panels, central stud and rove; a tongue-shaped plaque with punched detailing, two holes to accept studs and hinge loop to the upper edge. 33 grams total, 17 - 25mm (3/4 - 1"). Property of a European gentleman living in the UK; formerly in a private collection formed in the 1990s.
