Description
Circa 7th century A.D. A mixed group of silver belt fittings comprising: eight small discoid studs with slender mounting lugs to reverse; two larger discoid mounts with slender mounting lugs; buckle composed of a D-shaped frame decorated with scrolling vines, articulate tongue and rectangular belt loop; fitting of sub-rectangular shape with one rounded and one notched edge, openwork geometric motifs embellished with linear borders, dot-in-ring and leaf motifs. 48 grams total, 10-89 mm (3/8 - 3 1/2 in.). Early 1990s London collection. Acquired on the UK art market. From a private collection, Lancashire, UK. [12, No Reserve]
