The jug with lidded gilt spout, raised egg and dart collar to shoulder, stylized handle with reeded standard, pebbled scrolled acanthus leaf detailing to both ends, downswept pinecone finial, central frieze to body depicting neoclassical figures, elongated egg and dart repoussé work downwards to base, terminating on stepped and domed base with egg and dart decoration to middle step; jug is engraved with armorial crest of lion with banner reading PATRIA CARA CARIOR LIBERTAS (dear is my homeland, but liberty is dearer).
Condition
Slight bending to standard, significant wear to gilt at spout, pin denting to body, scratch near handle, nick to base, otherwise displaying surface scratches commensurate with age and use.
