Description
Edward & John Barnard (London, 1851-1868), circa 1868. A fine Victorian sterling silver ewer or claret jug having a high arched handle and shaped and hinged lid over a neck and body engraved with Renaissance style motif raised on dome and decorated circular foot. Stamped twice; one mark on top end of handle with lion standard mark for sterling and duty mark for Queen Victoria (1838-1890), stamped below spout with hallmarks for Edward & John Barnard, date code, lion mark, leopard head for London, and Queen Victoria duty mark. Approximate height 11.87". Approximate weight 25.68 troy ounces.
