Description
A GEORGE III MAHOGANY LIBRARY ARMCHAIR, MID 18TH CENTURY, in the manner of Thomas Chippendale (English 1718-1779), the rectangular padded back and seat covered in a later pale green and gold silk striped pattern fabric, the partially padded arms and coiled acanthus handholds above downswept blind fretwork carved supports, lifted on conformingly decorated square chamfered legs on castors. Provenance: This chair was offered and sold to previous owner at Christie's London, "English Furniture, Eastern Rugs and Carpets," 14 February 1980, Lot 69 for $2,000. Estate of the Late James K.
