Description
Continental School, late 19th/ early 20th century. A collection of two miniature paintings on bone comprising one horizontal painting after Francois Boucher (French, 1703-1770) depicting an allegorical figural scene in a landscape with a female nude reclining at center and a clothed male behind her, inscribed lower right "F. Boucher"; and one portrait depicting a dark haired young beauty, possibly Queen Carlota of Mexico (Belgian, 1840-1927), the young woman with curled dark hair flowing beside her face and wearing a stylish white dress of her shoulder with red sash at her waist, apparently unsigned. Figural scene approximately 5" x 6.375". Portrait approximately 6" x 5.125". Provenance: From the Estate of Mary L. Haugk, Lawrenceville, Georgia.
