Archive Collection of (25) Aaron Burr Related Documents
AARON BURR (1756-1836). Continental Army officer in the Revolutionary War, Lawyer and Politician, United States Senator (1791–1797) from New York, and third Vice President of the United States (1801–1805), under Thomas Jefferson. Chiefly remembered as the man who killed his rival Alexander Hamilton in the famous 1804 duel of honor.
Extensive Archive Collection of Twenty Five (25) Aaron Burr related Documents. This Archive includes: (2) Autograph Letters and (2) Signed Vouchers, plus (21) other items.

1. Autograph Letter Signed, “A. Burr,” 1 page, 7” x 9”, upon fine laid paper, not dated (though a pencil notation in another hand reads “October 1790”). Addressed on verso, a large portion of the bottom margin is missing and there is also paper loss on left and right center where the original wax seal was opened. Some additional paper loss at folds, otherwise in nice condition.

2. Autograph Letter Signed, “A. Burr,” date on rear leaf “15th May 1820,” 2 pages, folio, 8” x 10”, on fine period laid paper. Addressed upon the verso, hving some paper loss has been repaired where the original was seal was opened.

3 & 4. (2) Vouchers, each Signed, “Aaron Burr,” from Paris 1797 for payment exchange to Army Deputy Commissary Olivery Phelps, also signed by John B. Prevost, (Burr’s stepson and first Jefferson-appointed judge of the Superior Court of the Territory of Orleans).

The 21 Additional Documents are commercial and legal manuscripts all relatings to Aaron Burr, circa 1790 to 1820. Included are presentations by Burr relating to the Manhattan Co., (the earliest predecessor of JP Morgan Chase). Additional items are listings of Burr’s tenants, receipts, expenses, legal documents and various items where he is referred to as “Vice President” while in most he is referred to as “Colonel. Burr”. Should be seen, sold “as is” mixed condition from Very Good to Choice Very Fine. (25 items)
