Description
Pre-Columbian, Western Mexico, Nayarit, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A very large and showy platter! Shallow rounded bowl/tray covered in tan slip and painted with abstract designs in red and deep brown, series of small hash-marks in 4 rows around rim. Size: 13-1/8" in diameter x 2-1/8"H (33,3cm x 5,4cm).
Provenance: Ex-private Houston, TX collection acquired locally at auction or art gallery between 1983 and 1995.
