Feminine Tortoiseshell Dress Cane-Ca. 1880-Plain and well-proportioned Opera shaped tortoiseshell veneer handle and its wide, densely hand chased and gilt collar with engraved initials “EEH” on a mahogany shaft with a metal ferrule. While the warmth and subtle sheen of the well figured tortoiseshell plays a big role in the attractiveness of this cane the typical Victorian collar is license to ultimate luxury. Despite a great fragility, this cane survived intact and is praised by long years of careful use.-Tortoiseshell canes are extremely rare.-H. 3 ¼” x 1 ½”, O.L. 36 ¼”-$500-$700
