Description
A composite stone seated female figure, Bactria-Margiana, late 3rd - early 2nd Millennium BC, the body of chlorite or steatite and the head and shoulders of limestone. The figure wears a robe and sits on a throne or seat with sides recessed for inlay. H: 2 1/4 in (5.7 cm). Intact and an interesting object attesting to a highly developed civilization in west Central Asia during the late 3rd - early 2nd century BC. Ex Northern California private collection.
