Description
Likely Mossi Tribe (Burkina Faso, West Africa) or Benin (West Africa), 20th century. A bronze ancestral sculpture depicting a standing male at full length with shortened legs, elongated torso bearing bulbous belly and protruding belly button, an elongated neck set between shoulders drawn upward and ending in a point, and an oversized and expressive face at top with open smiling mouth, the head with braided hair and bird head at center, the whole decorated with tribal patterning in relief. Unmarked. Approximately 39.625" tall, 6.5" wide, 4.25" deep.
