Description
Pre-Columbian, West Coast Mexico, Colima/Nayarit, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. Carved from a stone of deep gray hues with smooth surfaces. Clearly this was a tool that was used, a solid non-grooved axe with a sharp end or bit that is slightly curved, perhaps indicating that it is an adze rather than a celt. Celts were used for chopping; whereas adzes were used for wood working. A nice example! Size: 5-1/4"L x 2-5/8"W.
