Description
This serene view of trees, a meadow and a town and hills beyond was painted bu S.E. Armour sometime around 1950. It is oil on primed masonite, and judging by the way it records a specific location, it may be a plein air painting. (Painted on location.) The painting was found in Maine, and is rendered in a style which is identifiable as influenced by the Cape Ann artists. It has thickly applied paint, and deep brush-bristle grooves in the buttery paint. I have only found one other example of this artist's work, and it is evident that he or she was trained and accomplished. The colors are warmer than most snow scenes, and there is an overall joy of color application, again reminiscent of the Cape Ann school, especially Emile Grouppe. The painting is 16" x 23.75", The new custom-made frame is 20" x 27" Item ID: COL-3 Fixed Price Shipping & Insurance on this item =$47.00
