Description
A lovely Etruscan red-figure oinochoe depicting females and a satyr, c. 4th - 3rd Century BC, the figures are nicely painted, one lady of fashion on the neck, richly adorned wearing jewelry, the second lady, equally attired, extends an offering of food to a satyr who leans and reaches for it. The entire vessel is decorated with stylized palm motifs, ovolo pattern around the base of the neck and below the pouring spout. H: 11 in (28.5cm). A nice example, richly decorated and with light deposits. Ex estate of Professor Williamson, Lehigh University. Purchased at Sotheby Parke Bernet.
