Description
A superbly detailed Egyptian faience amulet of the god Shu, Late Period, c. 664 - 332 BC, the sky god, who kneels on an integral square base, wearing a short kilt, wig, false beard and solar headdress, his hands overhead supporting the sky. Suspension loop at the back of his head. The amulet is in beautiful style with incredible detail, the faience with well-preserved surfaces and a pale blue-green color. H. 2.4 cm. Left hand lost, otherwise in superb condition. Ex Hamdy Sakr collection, London; previously in the private collection of Alex Anckonie III, acquired during his time in the Navy in the 1960's - 1970's.
