Description
Ancient Near East, Syria, Syro-Hittite, 2750 BCE to 1900 BCE. An impressive Syro-Hittite pillar figurine characteristically abstract in form with mysterious eyes and an almost bird-like presence, yet the monolithic body is distinctly human. This particular example boasts unique features, such as the beaded necklace and elaborate crown that adorn this piece. As ancient as this object is, it is in excellent condition and with its curvaceous form continues to connote fertility and emit an aura of mystery and wonder. Wood block stand.
