CIVIL WAR - UNION HORSE ARTILLERY SOLDIER SIXTEENTH-PLATE TINTYPE, lightly tinted, the figure seated, wearing a Hardee hat with artillery insignia for an unidentified 5th Artillery Regiment, Company B. Brass mat embossed with flags, drum, canon, and scrolled lower banner inscribed "The Union Now and Forever". Housed in an embossed leather case. Third quarter 19th century. 1 3/4" x 1 1/2" image.

Minor crazing throughout. Diagonal scratch in lower image. Area of wear at upper right sight edge. Case lid detached at hinge but present.
