HENRY LEMAN LANCASTER COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA KENTUCKY-STYLE LONG RIFLE, percussion, the lockplate with remnants of scrolling foliate engraving and partial "LEMAN / LANCTR. PA."; the octagonal barrel rifled with seven grooves, with script "R. Miller" scratched somewhat crudely into top behind site, likely owner's name; halfstock, probably tiger/figured maple, but may be an example of well executed faux striping, with metal end cap, possibly German silver; brass trigger guard, two-piece buttplate, side plate and patchbox, the side plate and patchbox cover with wrigglework decoration; German silver barrel-pin plates, six-point elongated star to cheekrest, and four-point star/flower behind and below cheekrest; cheekrest with typical Leman double-groove, and incised three-leaf foliate spray issuing from below cheekrest toward trigger guard; brass ramrod fitters soldered to barrel under-rib. Mid/third quarter 19th century. 59" L, barrel 43 5/8" L.

Lock in working condition, expected pitting to lockplate and barrel around percussion nipple; several early repairs including forestock possibly shortened but perhaps as made, brass screw set to stock at fore-end of lockplate, brass pan/sheet fitted around percussion nipple and between hammer and barrel tang, and two very minor breaks to stock, with each original piece reattached with a brad. One barrel-pin plate replaced, probably not silver.
