Description
BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS ATTRIBUTED DECORATED STONEWARE JUG, salt-glazed, approximately two-gallon capacity, exaggerated ovoid form with two incised shoulder rings, unusually tall bottle-like neck, double-ring rounded mouth, and grooved strap handle with large thumbprint lower terminal. Stamped codfish on shoulder brushed with cobalt, additional cobalt at handle terminals. Probably Jonathan Fenton (1766-1848). Circa 1800. 14 1/2" H.
