Description
STAMPED "S. H. SONNER / STRASBURG VA.", SHENANDOAH VALLEY OF VIRGINIA DECORATED STONEWARE JAR, salt-glazed, "3" gallon capacity mark, cylindrical form with arched grooved handle and collared flat-top rim. Brushed cobalt feather decoration below the rim on both sides, additional cobalt dashes below handles. The pottery of Samuel Harrison Sonner (1821-1901). Circa 1870-1884. 13" H, 8 3/4" D rim.
