Description
Teapot, decorated by Albert Pons, with light green over beige matte glaze and having fruit trees on sides and back, the lid surmounted with a cube form handle, marks include impressed Rookwood flame logo with Roman numeral "VIII" for date 1908, shape #770, signed with artist's incised monogram, approximate height 6 1/8", diameter at base 5 1/4", and a footed pitcher with ruffled rim, decorated by Amelia B. Sprague, having standard glaze and early autumn branches with leaves and berries, marks include impressed Rookwood flame logo indicating date 1893, shape #498B, W (for white clay), signed with artist's incised monogram, approximate height 6 5/16".
Condition
Teapot has heavy crazing inside and out with approximately 3 hairline cracks descending from the rim measuring 1 1/4", 5/8" and 3/8", a chip on the trunk of one tree measuring 1/2" x 3/8" and scattered peppering; the pitcher has a chip on the
