Description
Four-footed pillow form vase decorated by Martin Rettig, having standard glaze, one side having evening beach scene with wispy clouds, sea grass and birds flying overhead, the reverse having moon lit landscape with 2 owls perched on tree branch, on a black ground, marks include "Rookwood" in block letters, date 1882, impressed anchor mark and letter G (for ginger clay) and signed with artist's incised monogram "M.R.", approximate height 4 3/8", width 4", and a flower basket.
Condition
Professional restoration body and feet, seam lines running down both ends of vase.
