Description
Southeast Asia, Thailand, ca. 15th to 16th century CE. Stunning bronze head of a Buddha wearing a gilded crown. Buddha looks downward with serene face, elongated earlobes and pointed hair knot, hair with repeated rows of tight curls, flaming top-knot emerging from the top of the head. Ample gilding throughout. Size: 3-1/2" (8.9 cm) H not including custom base.
Provenance: Ex-Breezwood Museum, Maryland.
