Description
North America, ca. 70 to 65 million years BCE. Mosasaurus ("lizard of the Meuse River") is a genus of Prognathodon. These carnivorous, aquatic lizards somewhat resembled flippered crocodiles, with elongated heavy jaws. The genus existed during the Maastrichtian age of the Cretaceous period (Mesozoic era), around 70–65 million years ago in the area of modern Western Europe and North America. The name means "Meuse lizard", as the first specimen was found near the Meuse River. Skull is a complete specimen with dozens of sharp teeth and lower and upper jaws. At center of fossil is a small symmetrical depression indicating it was bitten by another dinosaur. Size: Measuring a huge 41"W x 40"H, weighing a hefty 300 pounds in the museum-grade matrix. Custom floor stand included. Will require crating/special shipping - please inquire before purchasing.
