Description
Queen Victoria's Honiton lace handkerchief, stockings and a damask napkin, mid-late 19th century, the lawn handkerchief with deep Honiton borders; the white cotton stockings knitted to the tops with large crowns and 'VR6'; the damask napkin worked in blue with an Imperial crown and 'V 72 45'; together with photocopies of the original catalogue cover and entry (qty) Provenance: auction of the contents of 'The Grange, Calne' 1944, lot 1098.
Condition
Napkin – badly damp speckled generally. Honiton hanky – generally good, 2 tiny holes along crease line in lawn centre. Stockings – plain cotton with embroidered clocks, one has occasional rust spots to each side, brown discolouration to heel area, tiny ladder, the other generally good, occasional scattered rust spots.
