The Italian architect and designer contributed to the social changes of the 1960s. His furniture is characterized by a radically new design language. The chair reflects the period’s interest in using manually produced materials for domestic purposes. The hung leather cushions of the back resemble tubes in shape.
Condition:
The chair is overall in good condition, showing some wear to the plastic base. The leather cover has been renewed. The dimensions are 92 x 95 x 94.5 cm.

Joe Colombo (1930-1971)
The Italian architect and designer Joe Colombo studied at the Milan Accademia Arti di Brera and later architecture at the University of Polytechnic in Milan. He was one of the most famous Italian designers of the 1960s. His designs were exhibited at the MoMA. His favorite materials were synthetic, from which he made functional and useful objects. (tm)
