Description
A matching pair of Nayarit figures, West Mexico, c. 200 BC - AD 200, the male seated drinking pulque through a reed from a gourd held between his legs, H: 4 1/4 in (10.8 cm), the female sitting wearing a skirt, her hands on her belly, H: 4 1/4 in (10.8 cm). Both are nice examples with remnants of ochre, crème and black paint. Attractive scattered mineral deposits over the glossy brick red slip. Ex Dr. John Hilsabeck estate, Orange County.
