A matching pair of bowls depicting figures various pursuits. Eighteen male figures are engrossed in the pastimes of playing GO, examining a scroll, playing musical instruments and conversing. They are surrounded by rocks, pine trees and floral vegetation. The upper inside rim displays the Three Abundances interspersed by panels of stylized swastikas. The rim below is a band of ruyi alternating with pines, bamboo, prunus and peony with a geometric floral design completing the band. The central medallion is of a pine bonsai in a jardinere with two stylized blue bands encircling the design.
