Description
Taken as Apollo 11 Commander Neil Armstrong Took Man's First Step on the Moon This exciting lot is an actual strip og the EKG from Neil Armstrong's heart monitor at the moment he stepped onto the lunar surface. Neil's vital signs were being monitored by NASA's medical team on the ground as he debarked the "Eagle" onto the moon. After the landing, this EKG report was saved by the Manager of Medical Administration for the Space Center. It was cut up into five pieces; four were presented to the attending physicians on the medical team. This one is mounted as a presentation piece on which the captions "EKG Recordings Taken As Apollo 11 Commander Neil Armstrong Took Man's First Step On The Moon" and "4:13:24:28 Ground Elapsed Time" were printed. After his return to Earth, Neil's autopen signature was applied to the mounting sheet in blue ink. ALSO included on this framed piece are mission patches from Apollo 7, Apollo 8, Apollo 9, Apollo 10, Apollo 11, Apollo 12, Apollo 13, and two Snoopy patches. This presentation piece was given to Paul A. Jones, Jr. by Chas A. Berry, M.D., who inscribed it: "To Paul Jones, The heartbeats that made this accomplishment possible as recorded at MCC on my console. Keep up your heart work". Minor faults and toning do not detract from this importance of this piece. An absolutely outstanding item.
