Description
A brocaded silk dragon robe, chi-fu, Chinese, late 19th century, woven with nine golden dragons on a rich blue ground, gilded brass bauble fastenings, lined in blue damask satin
Condition
at first glance good condition, general appearance is fresh and clean but there is a patch of blue damask 1 x 4cm on the crease line of the left and right sleeves. Area of thinning approx. 1cm on left cuff and a few floating gilt thread stripes. A narrow band of blue Chinese damask silk has been inset from underside of arms to hem to widen and at centre front. Paper strip braid at neck is missing. 1 x 3cm damask patch applied above rear skirt split. Repaired 37cm split on right cuff. 2cm split in silk at rear right of skirt. Pale blue plain silk lining has sweat stains and large watermark to hem.
