Description
Antique 1889 Redwork Signature Counterpane Quilt, possibly for Fundraising purposes, measuring 60x60. It is comprised of 35 10x10" squares, and 1 10x20 rectangle, set straight 6 by 6. The seam of each block has a machine applied red and white 1/4" trim. Within each block are several names, dates 1888-1889. They seem to organized by group affiliations such as schools and churches. There is one block with Washington, DC and another with Ladies Presbyterian Aid Society. It is not quilted, but the edge is finished with a 4 inch ruffle on all 4 sides which also has the red and white trim applied by machine to the edge. It is in fair condition with spots to repairs, overall fading and embroidery loss. If you have any doubt, please ask questions!
