Condition: ex-library stamps; some wear staining abd rubbing to cover; repair strips between covers and endpapers.
Light brown papers, some foxing stains to most of pages.

Der Emes (Yiddish ??? ????? - “Truth”) is a Soviet publishing house that operated from the early 1920s until November 1948[1]. Located in Moscow. As of 1941, it was part of the Association of State Book and Magazine Publishing Houses (OGIZ). In October 1941, the publishing house "Der Emes", as an integral part of OGIZ, was evacuated to the city of Krasnoufimsk, Sverdlovsk region, and returned to Moscow in July 1942[2].
The publishing house specialized primarily in fiction in Yiddish, as well as translations from Yiddish into Russian. Soon after the closure of the publishing house, its director L. I. Strongin (1896-1968), editor-in-chief M. S. Belenky) and some of the ordinary employees were arrested.
The entire editorial and publishing complex “Der Emes” (publishing house, editorial offices and its own printing house) was located in the former main house of the city estate of T. N. Shcherbakov - Arbatskikh at Moscow, Pokrovka, building 9 [3].
