James "Jim Buck" Beasley (NC, 1890-1973), Bluebill
Sea Gull, North Carolina, circa 1930s, carved and painted wood.
Length 13.25 in.
Beasley was the son of famed decoy maker Solomon Beasley. He was a talented wood carver and made decoys and boats while serving in the Coast Guard. This bluebill is extremely well made and was not repainted as a ruddy like many others.
