FABERGE, AN IMPORTANT IMPERIAL JEWELLED GOLD MOUNTED BOWENITE MODEL OF A FROG, ST PETERSBURG, CIRCA 1900 humoristically carved in the Japanese taste, modelled as a frog doing a handstand with its rear feet clasped together, its eyes set with large cabochon rubies and its mouth gold mounted and set with diamonds, modelled after a netsuke, apparently unmarked. Height 5.2cm (2 1/16 inches). Provenance - The property of The Russian Imperial Family. - With Popoff, Paris. - With Wartski by 1936. - Private UK Collection. - Acquired by the present owner.
