Description
1) "BROKE JAIL / ALBA W DENNETT / THE MURDERER / $300 / REWARD" 1877, 13.5" x 8.5" exposed under mat of framed poster, albumen photo attached. Dennett (1850-?) had killed his own infant son who he had fathered while in law school. He placed the baby in a canvas sack weighted with bricks and threw him into the Milwaukee River. He was never found after his escape. Appears very good, not examined out of frame. 2) Wells Fargo. San Francisco. small flyer for arrest of 2 forgers. June 13th. 1889. good overall. stained and toned. 3) 11" x 8.5" "WANTED FOR FORGERY" George H. Carpenter, escaped from Jacksonville, FL, 1888, attached albumen photo of mustachioed felon. Matted on acid free board with archival hinges and archival tape repair to left edge, good overall. PROVENANCE: Martin Lane Historic & Western Americana Lifetime Collection. (02-21981/JS). $300-500.
