Description
Pre-Columbian, North Coast Peru, Chimu culture, ca. 700 to 1470 CE. A large hand-woven textile fragment from a belt or sash known as a "chumpi" made from camelid fibers, perhaps alpaca or llama, using the double weave technique - the reverse face coloration is opposite from the obverse. Size: 43" L x 1.3" W (109.2 cm x 3.3 cm)
