RIAA Gold Album award for the Smashing Pumpkins album Siamese Dream. It was released on Jukly 27, 1993 and by Nov. 17, 1993 was certified Platinum by the RIAA for one million copies sold.

The second studio album from the Chicago group led by Billy Corgan produced the hits "Cherub Rock", "Today", "Disarm", and "Rocket" and broke the group open to even more worldwide success after their debut Gish established them as one to watch. The group picked up a pair of Grammy award nominations and the the album reached #10 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart, #4 in the UK and it also did well in many other world markets. By 1996 it was certified 4x Multi-Platinum by the RIAA for four million copies sold.

Detailed Item Description: This is a first presentation RIAA Gold Album award that would have been manufactured in 1993-94, making it approximately 30 years old. This award is presented to Mike Easterlin, who was at the time National Director of Pop Promotion at Virgin Records, and who also worked at Island Def Jam and later became President at Fueled By Ramen and Roadrunner, and co-President of Elektra Records.

The award is in VG condition with only a few minor mars on the frame and plexiglass, and the RIAA hologram sticker has shifted slightly. It has its' original backing paper, which has numerous tears, with manufacturer sticker from Ill Eagle Enterprises.

Notes on the condition of all vintage RIAA awards like this one: Please do not buy this item if you want a brand new piece of memorabilia. These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced. As a result they may show signs of wear. Frankly, if you see a 20 to 50-year-old award purported to be in 100% perfect condition, it might be too good to be true. After all, an antique should have "good' wear. If not, you might want to question the piece.

As to where they came from, they could have been displayed in record label offices, recording studios, artist manager's offices, radio stations, private collector's homes and yes, of course, possibly the artist's or songwriter's home. Typically, we don't know all the places they may have been over the years other than what we've stated in the description.
