A Composite Scottish Basket-Hilted Broadsword The Hilt And Blade Last Quarter Of The 17th Century With bright slightly tapering double-edged blade incised with running wolf mark on each side of the forte, the latter with central fuller incised 'ANDRIA FERARA' between pellet and 'eyelash' marks, the ricasso struck with an indistinct mark between short fullers on both sides, iron 'ribbon' guard of broad flat bars (one patched in, one repaired) framing an ovoidal panel and an 'S' on each side, and with double incised line decoration, rudimentary quillons, later bun-shaped pommel with button, later fishskin-covered grip between iron ferules, and later buff-leather liner faced in red woollen cloth (some old rust patination) 90.5 cm. blade This lot is subject to the following lot symbols: * * VAT on imported items at a preferential rate of 5% on Hammer Price and the prevailing rate on Buyer's Premium.
