An Iron Strongbox 17th Century, Probably German Of rectangular form and heavy construction, the hinged lid carrying an internal lock mechanism working four independent bolts, operated by a key through a central keyhole with pivoting oval cover on the outside, the mechanism covered by a ward-plate, hinged lid support, front straps engaging with staples on the lid, the sides and lid reinforced with riveted straps forming a trellis, the front with dummy keyhole plate embossed with foliage, writhen drop handle on each side, and retaining its key, the interior surfaces and ward-plate painted ocre (2) 60 cm. wide x 44 cm. deep x 36 cm. high For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com For further information about this lot please visit the lot listing
