Latin America, Mexico, ca. 1950s to 1960s CE. A carved black onyx stone jaguar figurine inlaid with malachite spots and nacre shell eyes and teeth. Miniature, high-quality carvings, such as this jaguar are made by local workshops near the ancient city Teotihuacan, which is the largest pre-Columbian site in the Americas, called the "City of the Gods" by the Aztecs, who were just as fascinated by its ruins and culture as we are today. Size: 4.75" L x 1.5" W x 1.75" H (12.1 cm x 3.8 cm x 4.4 cm)
