**Originally Listed At $200**

South America, Spanish Colonial Period, ca. 19th century CE. A matching pair of brass slipper stirrups, each in the shape of a leather boot with an upturned square toe, the surface even ribbed like the creases in the leather. A rectangular loop rises from the tongue of each boot, allowing for a leather strap that hooks the saddle. Additional incised designs adorn the sides of each. The Spanish introduced horses to the Americas, as well as the fancy tack and for the equestrian owners, and this slipper style is often referred to as Conquistador stirrups. Size of larger: 8.8" L x 4" W x 4" H (22.4 cm x 10.2 cm x 10.2 cm)

Condition
Both are from the period stated but are not an originally matched pair. Stable fissure to edge of larger boot. Both have some light bending but form is still clear, and age-expected nicks and abrasions as shown. Otherwise, both are intact and excellent with light patina.
