Description
South America, Spanish Colonial Period, ca. 18th to 19th century CE. A pair of iron riding stirrups with a broad and slightly curved foot plate pierced, and flaring sides with suspension loop. This style was used throughout the Ottoman Empire, spreading to Spain and Italy via Tunisia and Morocco, and eventually to the New World colonies. The lack of extensive decoration and simple iron make suggests this pair was from a Spanish colony with Moorish influence. Size: 7" L x 5" W x 7" H (17.8 cm x 12.7 cm x 17.8 cm)
