(British Actor, Playwright, Director), Unknown, illegible signature (noted verso Manager of Universal City), Ian Forbes Robertson (British Stage Actor and Producer), Henry Aloysius Hubman (Manager of Motion Picture Sales American Play Co.), autographed, one verso estate stamped, some with artists personal notations. Biography: Beatrix Sherman styled herself after 19th C. French silhouette artist Auguste Edouart. Sherman, like Edouart, kept books with an extra copy of each sitter's silhouette enabling her to create an extensive personal archive that included both the silhouettes and the sitter's (sic.) autographs. Sherman traveled extensively, established a permanent studio in Manhattan throughout the 1950’s. She attended art classes at The Art Students League, eventually becoming a lifetime member. From an early age, she had begun copyrighting silhouettes of several of the famous people she cut. Sherman’s subjects include all the U.S. Presidents, as well as other politicians, military leaders, writers, royalty, prominent businessmen and women, socialites, athletes, artists, theatre, film actors, producers and directors.
