A Joseph Hodgson Silver Covered Tureen, London, 1840 Marks: (lion passant), (leopard's head), (duty mark), E, IH 10-1/4 x 17 x 9-1/2 inches (26.0 x 43.2 x 24.1 cm) 3412 grams (109.7 troy ounces) The bulbous undulating tureen with gadrooned meandering rim raised on four foliate scroll-form feet and with two foliate scroll handles; the conforming cover having a rose finial to cover over foliate embellishments and centered by crest over the inscription WAS ICH HAB DAS ICH FEST to cover and tureen's mid-body. Condition
In very good condition, with two minute pin dents to tureen's interior; engraved to exterior's mid-body and cover. Cover is marked (lion passant), (duty mark), E, IH. Tureen's mid-body and cover feature a crest and inscription.
